Green Funding Opportunities

We know that costs can be a huge barrier to becoming more sustainable as a care provider. We are advocating for the social care sector in discussions with central government, communicating the need for specific capital funding for decarbonising which all care providers can access, not just social housing providers.
We are collecting case studies from members for this purpose. If you can share any insights into the specific limitations of the current capital funding mechanisms, please get in touch via laurie.monaghan@nationalcareforum.org.uk.
In the meantime, we have tried to collect some funding opportunities you may be able to benefit from on this page.
There is funding available (in the form of grants, loans or vouchers) for energy saving improvements, infrastructure and other projects which will help your organisation become greener. Government grants are available for green initiatives and other organisations (like Ofgem for example) sometimes administer these, plus there are opportunities from other sources such as the national lottery and local initiatives. Some are for very specific purposes, other might require a degree of creativity, and some will be dependent on what kind of organisation you are.
Where to look:
- Grant Finder
- Going Green
- The Business Climate Hub
- Energy – Finance and support for your business – GOV.UK
- Ofgem’s environmental and social schemes
- Grants Online
- SSE Green business grants and loans
- Funding for you – Carbon Literacy Project
On a local level, it’s worth asking your local council if they provide energy efficiency funding or sustainable business growth grants. You will normally need to submit a business case to apply. LEP Growth Hubs offer advice guidance and networking for local businesses, and sometimes offer grants locally. They normally signpost local funding opportunities if they don’t offer them themselves.
Some more ambitious or pioneering projects may be eligible for business innovation funding.
