Today we have three more inspiring stories of care from members

Bonfire Night Celebration Brings Joy to Anita Stone Court in Moseley

In November, Broadening Choices for Older People celebrated Bonfire Night at Anita Stone Court in Moseley, Birmingham, with a fantastic evening that brought together friends, families, staff, and residents. Everyone had a brilliant time enjoying the festivities and making memories together!

Easter Festivities at EMH

Three weeks prior to Easter weekend Support Staff purchased activity packs that they thought people would enjoy (based on previous experience). We planned a special menu and purchased Easter Eggs and decorations for the lounge. During Easter week we put up Easter-themed Fairy lights and laid the table with a themed tablecloth and a pot of daffodils.

On a one-to-one basis everyone decorated an Easter Bonnet with soft foam cutouts and fluffy chicks. This was done individually so that each service user could be fully involved in choosing the decorations and helping to stick them on. There were lots of smiles and laughter. The hats were worn mostly for a limited time as people didn’t like wearing them! (No fluffy chicks were permanently harmed in the making or falling of the hats when people knocked them off ) They were then displayed on the notice board for all to enjoy

An Unforgettable Animal Experience at Fisher Close!

Colette Shirley, our wonderful team leader, arranged a special visit from Sam Wright, who runs The Mobile Mini Zoo, on 27th February at Fisher Close. Sam, who has a great deal of experience working with people with learning disabilities, brought along a variety of adorable small animals for the service users to interact with. The event was thoughtfully planned, with small groups of no more than five people at a time, ensuring everyone got plenty of individual attention. Service users had a fantastic time engaging with the animals and learning about their care. The day was filled with smiles, and laughter. The visit was such a success that we can’t wait to invite family members for the next one and look forward to booking more fun-filled visits in the future! Read more here.
