Rhona’s Inspiring Journey at Abbeyfield

We’re thrilled to share a video showcasing our amazing resident, Rhona, and her inspiring journey with Abbeyfield Living Society! At 92 years old, Rhona has been a cherished part of our community for two wonderful years. Despite her diagnosis of dementia, she approaches life with brightness and joy. Rhona’s warm personality and positive outlook are a true delight to everyone around her, and it’s incredibly heartwarming to see the happiness she finds in our care.

Unlocking Potential: Hamelin’s New Programme to Empower Autistic Adults in the Workforce

The autistic talent pool is hugely underutilised – only around 3 in 10 autistic adults are in employment, compared to 5 in 10 of all disabled adults and 8 in 10 of non-disabled adults.

Essex-based disability charity Hamelin has launched a new employment programme to help autistic people get into work and address the employment gap.

Employment Manager Markie Musilova said the programme was hugely important in helping people break down the barriers they face.

She said: “This new programme is not only helping people gain the skills and confidence they need to secure employment but also raise awareness, reduce stigma and capitalise on the productivity of employees who are autistic or have a learning disability.”
