NCF Dementia Communities of Practice Network meeting – 20th June
The next NCF Dementia Community of Practice Network meeting will take place on the 20th June from 1:00pm – 2:00pm.
Because we’re human too: why dementia training for care workers matters, and how to deliver it
Ashton Fitzell is a Policy Officer at Alzheimer’s Society focusing on adult social care, namely improving the quality and uptake of dementia training. Becky Woollin is a Strategic Evidence Officer currently focusing on dementia training for adult social care workers through equipping the Policy team with the right evidence and insight to drive their call for mandatory dementia training for care workers.
Ashton and Becky are co-authors of Alzheimer’s Society’s 2024 report, ‘Because we’re human too: why dementia training for care workers matters, and how to deliver it’, which will be the focus of their upcoming presentation. Ashton and Becky will provide a summary of the report, whilst exploring the significant benefits of dementia training to people living with dementia, care staff, care providers and the wider health and care system. Their aim is to show that quality dementia training can considerably improve people’s quality of life, increase staff job satisfaction and lead to savings in the wider health and care system.
